The Colombo Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) was founded on the vision of Dr. Chamalie Caldera, one of Sri Lanka’s leading aestheticians and cosmetologists, with the mission of elevating and advancing the country’s aesthetics, cosmetology, and beauty science industry through quality higher education.
Renowned not only for her expertise in cosmetology but also for her significant contributions to higher education, Dr. Caldera is a respected entrepreneur, educator, and industry leader. Her vision has been instrumental in bridging the gap between professional practice and internationally benchmarked education, creating pathways for students to build successful careers in the rapidly evolving beauty and aesthetics sector.
Since its establishment in 2005, CIHE has continuously expanded its academic portfolio, offering Certificate Programmes, Diploma Programmes, professional training programmes, and international education opportunities through overseas training and academic collaborations in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
A significant milestone was achieved in 2015, when CIHE received approval from the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) to deliver the nationally recognised NVQ Level 4 Hairdressing and NVQ Level 4 Beauticianqualifications, further strengthening its commitment to delivering industry-recognised education.
Today, CIHE has established itself as one of Sri Lanka’s leading institutions specialising in aesthetics and cosmetology. By 2026, the institute proudly offers 12 specialised programmes dedicated to the beauty, aesthetics, and cosmetology sector, producing skilled professionals who meet both national and international industry standards.
